I. Use the command prompt
Although it may sound tricky, the easiest way to get the product key in Windows 11 is to use the command prompt. All you need to do is open the “Start” menu and then search for “Command Prompt”. When you see the app, open it and type the following command:
wmicpathSoftwareLicensingServicegetOA3xOriginalProductKey
After typing the command (or pasting it), press Enter on your keyboard and you will see the product key on the next line of the command prompt. If you wish to activate Windows 11 in the future, make a note of this string of codes.
II. CHECK THE RECEPT AND/OR EMAIL
Another way to find a product key on Windows 11 is to look at the receipt when you purchased the Windows version. If you purchased through Microsoft or BestBuy, you can find the product key in the “Order” or “Purchase” section of the online version of the store.
If you purchased through Amazon, check Amazon’s Your Games and Software Libraries section. You may also want to check your email, as it may contain instructions on how to find the product key, or, the email may list the product key.
III. Find the physical sticker on your PC
You can find the physical sticker on your PC using the listed product key, which usually lists the Windows version and the product key. Please note that you can only use this listed key with the corresponding Windows version. Therefore, if there is a key for Windows 10 Home Edition on the sticker, then you can only activate it for Windows 11 Home Edition. If there is a key for Windows 11 Professional Edition on the sticker, then you will only be able to activate Windows 11 Professional Edition.
